“Plagiarising” Bidders’ Ideas

It’s hard to un-know good ideas once they’re put in front of you, and ideas of the kind referred to here aren’t patentable and probably not subject to copyright. Law & ethics aren’t the same thing, but the law may be a decent guide in this case. But one suspects that a lot depends on the details, here. >>>

Is it plagiarism or just standard practice?

Q. My company solicits bids from multiple vendors for jobs. We award the job to one vendor, and then cull the best ideas from all the vendors’ proposals to create the specs for the job that only the winner will execute…but is it ethical…?
