Uber is Here to Stay

This editorial happens to be from the Ottawa Citizen, but its central point would be equally relevant in any of dozens of cities around the world. The taxi industry is in denial. Municipal governments are in denial. And Uber, for its part, needs to figure out a way to play by at least some of the rules. But Uber is indeed here to stay. Deal with it. >>>

…the real solution would be to a) admit that if the system wasn’t broken, Uber wouldn’t be competitive here, and b) dismantle said system in such a way that’s fair to cabbies who’ve paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to participate in it, and replace it with something more sensible….
