Deepwater Horizon (coming out Sept 30, 2016) is about the infamous offshore oil drilling rig called the Deepwater Horizon. The rig — built by Hyundai, owned by Transocean, and operated by BP, suffered a catastrophic explosion off the coast of Louisiana on April 20, 2010. Eleven workers were killed. The The rig sank two days later, leaving the now-uncontrolled well gushing crude oil at the ocean’s floor. The well gushed oil until July of that year, and the resulting spill did enormous damage to the waters, wildlife, and economy of the Gulf Coast. Both Transocean and BP have faced fines in the billions. >>>
